Guest Designer @ H2H: Week 4

I can’t believe it’s the end of June already!!  This is my last week as the Guest Designer for Heart 2 Heart Challenges and I’d like to say a big thank you for giving me the honour!   I’ve had a lot of fun seeing the different projects you all have come up with from each of the challenges.  This week’s challenge is to create an elegant card for a wedding or wedding shower!

I have a couple techniques to share with you today – the first is a surefire way to find patterned paper to match your colour scheme!! Make your own!!  Just use one of the great background stamps (I used one from Universal Backgrounds), and stamp it in a coordinating colour.  I used Creme Brulee to go along with my colour scheme and stamped the image four times onto my blank cardstock to create a new patterned paper!

I then used this just like any other piece of paper and put it through the Cricut machine for my letters

The second technique is a great way to add sparkle and colour coordinate your elements!   When I couldn’t find just the right coloured or patterned paper to cut my brackets out of, I decided to cut them out of vellum and use a coordinating colour of glitter to dress them up.   I used the same technique for the border strip at the top (I punched the edge first, then glittered), and for the “&” in the middle (except the “&” is cut out in Creme Brulee cardstock so it appears much more vibrant).

1. Run the vellum accent through the Xyron machine to apply adhesive evenly
2. Pour glitter on top of the accent, adhesive side up; spread and press the glitter in with fingers
3. Tap off excess glitter and return it to the original bottle. This technique uses a very small amount of glitter!

Here is my finished card, completed with a little ribbon, some creme brulee paper flowers, and some pearls!  All of the cuts are from the Art Philosophy cartridge! 🙂

Thanks so much for stopping by and joining in my fun as Guest Designer this month!
