MPS Colour Challenge

Bopping around to all my “regular” blogs and internet sites today, I saw that My Pink Stamper was looking for 2 new design team members.  I own two of her DVDs and one of her stamp sets and absolutely adore them all so I was excited to give it a go!  Truth be told, this challenge / design team call is the reason I finally have a blog up and running.

The challenge was to: “Make a card, scrapbook page, or other Cricut project with your favorite cartridge using my favorite colors…… Pink, Green, Brown (other optional color of your choice)”

Here’s my project:

Recipe:

Plain wooden frame (Michaels)
Beige Glitter Paper (Paper Reflections Glitter Paper Stack)
Brown Cardstock (Core-dinations Colorcore “The Chocolate Box”
Green Embossed Cardstock (from my scraps)
Pink & Brown Argyle Paper (from my scraps)
Brown Ribbon
Brown StazOn Ink
Fiskars stamp (Baby set)
Serenade Cartridge
Gypsy (Need Gyspsy Wanderings for the leaves)
Cricut
A few choice adhesives

I used my gypsy to squish the tree I wanted to cut from the Serenade cartridge so that it would fit a bit better on the side of my frame – had I left it the way it was, it would have covered up the space for the photo entirely.

While my tree and leaves were cutting on the Cricut, I painted the sides and inside of my plain wooden frame brown.

When the tree was finished cutting, it still had a branch going across the opening of my frame so I trimmed it off and re-attached it where I thought it fit better.

Left to Right: Plain frame, Frame with glitter cardstock attached, tree with trimmed branch, final tree

A frame made specifically for Baby Colby's picture. The tree is made to match the 6 foot tree we made out of vinyl for his room.

The Final Project!

Once everything was dry and adhered together, I stamped my quote using StazOn ink (I tested it before on a scrap piece of the same material because the paper was quite gritty and I was unsure I’d be able to get a clean image, but it worked quite well!)

This frame was made to match Colby’s room – the project I did in there was actually featured in the Cricut Chirp newsletter – check it out 🙂

Thanks so much for stopping by!!
