Dots & Stripes

I have been working on some new designs for pet owners and their friends and wanted to incorporate some of them into the current challenges at Heart2Heart.

Their first challenge this month saysThis week’s challenge is a salute to trendy polka dots and stripes!  Get your spotty polka dotty fun on and create a project to share with us this week.  Want to step it up a design notch?  Add some stripes for flair and pizazz!

Nate’s ABCs is also a cartridge that fits into the current Exploring Cricut challenge as well – one of those cartridges I “had to have” and thought I’d use it immediately, but kind of sat dormant for a while!

I, of course, want as much pizazz as possible (hahaha) so I jumped on board to include both dots and stripes in this design.  I used polka dot paper from the Dotty for You Paper Pack (which is so much more than polka dots!  check it out here).  The food dish is from Nate’s ABCs and the bone is from Create a Critter.

Sometimes you may think that the patterns you have chosen blend too much into each other, and the image will appear to be washed out.  This is true at times, BUT you can fix it with ink!   I used a piece of sponge and inked up each piece before adhering them together, using Cocoa ink (one of my favourites for this technique).   Since Lagoon is one of the main colours in the Dotty pack, I chose it to stamp my sentiment with.  The sentiment is from Say It In Style

Thanks for stopping by!!
More pet themed cards to come soon!
