Another multi-tasking project! I wanted to fit time in for the Circle’s Magazine challenge and also needed to create an entry for our upcoming fair, under the category of: Decorate a plain purchased gift bag, with the “busy bees” theme. The magazine challenge required the use of some kind of Cosmo Cricket product, at least 3 Cricut Cuts, and any Cuttlebug folder. Once I found some Cosmo Cricket paper that I thought might work for the bee themed bag, I got to work! It was very exciting to watch my bag go from plain plain white to buzzing with colour! 😉
I used some ink and daubers to colour around the edges of my bag to create a background of sorts, and found some Coordinations Gemstone cardtock in yellow to use as my base. I used the Sentimentals cartridge with my CC paper for the hive and the bees – I like the elegant look they have, as opposed to the cutesy cartoony options from other cartidges. The Cosmo Cricket paper cut SO WELL in my machine – I think I’ll have to keep my eye out for more; I can’t believe I hadn’t used it before!!
I used foam adhesive squares to add some dimension to some of the bees and then some adhesive rhinsetones to embellish their flight paths! I added my tag, using my cuttlebug to emboss some more great CC paper for the first layer, and then put a smaller tag of vellum on top to create a writing surface.
Thanks for stopping by! Maybe I’ll post my other bee themed projects I have done for the fair within the next few days!
Awesome transformation and I love all the dimension. Good luck in the contest!
Laura, I love this bag! Your inking is awesome– I can’t believe it started out white!!
Thanks so much Renee and Nadia!!
