The theme over at the Heart 2 Heart Challenge is Father’s Day! I thought it was a great time to pull out the Super Hero paper pack and make a set of cards for some Super Dads out there! I’m using the same supplies for these cards, and showing you how you can change things up just by using the supplies differently or in a different order.
I used my gypsy to create the “DAD” burst, to match the bursts on the Super Hero paper – just take the burst shape from the AP cartridge, and add your letters to the inside of the shape. Make sure the weld button is not clicked, and you’ll get your shape with the letters cut out. Cut out the same shape, without the letters, to create a background colour (I used some extra Dotty paper that I had laying around for this layer. You can also use the free online Cricut Craftroom tool if you don’t have a Gypsy!
Lately I’ve been in love with inking (or distressing) my cuts! I have a few blog posts about it if you’d like to check them out! So here are the cuts I used on a few of the cards, before and after layering and inking. Just a little piece of sponge and an ink pad is all you need to get this technique! *I used Say It In Style for the sentiment*
Once all of those layers are together and inked, the cards are ready to assemble. While I always start with a plan in mind, that plan often wanders, and I just go with it! Sometimes if you let your hands think instead of your brain, you end up with something even better than what you imagined in the first place! Notice in one of the cards, I cut out pieces of the background paper to use as extra accents – utilize your favourite paper for more than just a background! Here are the final cards I came up with…
Great cards! Love how the “Dad burst” pops! 🙂
